Characteristics: This is a product for manual application. It contains unsaturated polyester resin with suitable catalysts. The 50% paste of benzoyl peroxide should be used as a hardener (Novol Art. No. 5022). Polyester Resin is suitable for repairing holes and rust damages in car bodies, as well as for laminating yachts, boats and caravans. Obtained coat has an excellent adhesion to the substrate. It is the same material as in the repair box, but it is supplied in bigger containers. Compatible with any type of glass fiber mat or woven roving. Substrates: - polyester laminates, - steel, - wood - aluminium, - 2 component acrylic primers, - old paint coatings. Notice: Do not apply directly on washprimers, 1 component acrylic and NC products. Substrates preparation: - polyester laminates: degrease, sand dry P80 - P120 and degrease again using silicone remover, - steel surfaces: degrease, sand dry P80 - P120 and degrease again, - aluminium surfaces: degrease, matt with Scotch Brite Fine or Very Fine and degrease again, - wood: sand dry P80 - P120 and remove dust - primers: sand dry P180 - P240 and degrease, - old coatings: degrease, sand dry P80 – P120 and degrease. Mixing ratio: Resin - 100 ppw Hardener - 2 to 3 ppw. Potlife: 10 ÷ 15 min 20oC at a temperature of 20 oC Complementary articles: Hardener – Novol Art. No. 5022, (50% paste of benzoyl peroxide), Glass fibre mat - Novol Art. No: 6002, 6003, 6005, Glass fibre fabrics – Novol Art. No: 6012, 6014, and 6016. Procedure: Remove the rust, sand and degrease the surface. Cut the proper piece of glass mat, so that it can overlap the damaged area for 2 cm. Mix the resin with the hardener well to get uniform colour, follow recommended amounts. Potlife approx. 10-15 min. in 20°C. Apply it with a brush on the prepared surface, then put the glass fibre material on it and saturate with the resin. Apply several layers of the glass matt as required. After 45 min. the repaired place can be treated mechanically and filled with the polyester putty. Possible surface stickiness is important for the further application, however it can be easily removed with the NC thinner. Do not apply at a temperature below 10°C. Typical ratio for laminate is app. 2 kg of the resin and 1 kg of the glass fibre material (mat or woven fabric. NOTICE: Do not return any leftover material to the tin. Time of hardening: App.45 min at a temperature of 20 oC Heating up to 60°C in a 15 min period can shorten t his time. Sanding: sand dry P80 - P120. Coverable by: Polyester knifing and spray putty, most of commercially available primers, topcoats and clearcoats.
Colour: Yellow. Tools cleaning: NC solvent. Storage time and condition: Store in a dry, cool place, away from sources of fire and heat. Direct sunlight should be avoided. Resin: 12 months at a temperature of 20°C. Industrial safety: See Safety Data Sheet of this article.
